Cretan diet and wine

vin rouge

The benefits of red wine in moderation is well documented, and the Cretan diet embraces the benefits wholeheartedly! At least one, (but more often two!), glasses of wine will accompany the meal.

Most researchers agreed that there is something in the wine that offers protection, and, even the highly cautious federal dietary guidelines say that moderate consumption of red wine can be beneficial.

Red wine may help prevent blood clots and reduce the blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits. Indeed, studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease.
